We’ve been looking at the question of How to Keep Going When the going Gets Tough. In Part 1, we considered not giving in to fear and to stop listening to our irrational, emotion-driven responses. In Part 2, we looked at not letting others, or ourselves, talk us into defeat. We talked about looking for God’s way of moving forward when the going gets tough. Now, we look at the last point.: Be ready to move forward when God opens the way.
5. Be ready to move forward when God opens the way. Prepare anyway. Waste no time for pouting or waiting to be officially asked. If God has put something on our hearts, it’s time to obey. Ugh. We might not have anyone cheering for us. But look for His approval as our course direction. I’ve known so many writers that waited for the green light from a publisher before finishing the article or the book. Really, if God says to write the book, we need to do this. God knows more than we can possibly know about our future or what the publishers want or what opportunities the world of self-publishing might open. Over time, I’m learning to be promptly obedient to His commands. My trust grows in believing that He has our best intentions in His heart when He asks something of us.
I’ve also stopped moving forward with the thought of, “What if I blow it?” Then it would be an experience to re-label as a “valuable lessons learned” and put it in the “what not to do next time” file.
Time to get going!
