Prayers for the Parched: Teach Me About Waiting

Father, teach me what you want as I wait to hear from you

Father, teach me what you want as I wait to hear from you

Psalm 27:13-14  I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.

Father,

Teach me about waiting

Waiting on you

Waiting patiently for you

Show me where your rest is

Let me rest in you silently

As I rest at your feet,

…I drink in the silence

…I still before you

Hush my anxious thoughts

My wishes, my fears, my hopes

They come together as one drumbest

As my heart’s metronome starts to slow in your presence

My melody gets fainter as i strain to hear your song

I lay before you all my thoughts

…knowing that you will hear them all

And bring me into your calm, your quiet, your peace

Your peace is what I need in my heart and my mind

Take my anxious thoughts and replace them with your peace

Centered on you, my confidence is restored

I remember your promises

I trust in your power,

…in your timing, in your intentions

You long to bless me more than I desire it

Meanwhile fill me in this quiet place

…with your strength, with your joy

…with your love

…with the patience of Jesus

…with the Holy Spirit

Renew my spirit so that my heart can take ourage

…as I wait with you
