Prayers for the Parched: Quality, Not Just Quantity

Learning to appreciate Quality as well as Quantity

Learning to appreciate Quality as well as Quantity

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”  Matthew 18:20

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”  Isaiah 30:21

Father,

Forgive me for measuring everything by quantity

In American we value “Big”

We value “more and “most”

In fact we often make life a contest

Give me your heart to see quality

I measure the success of a party by how many people came

You are gathered in our midst with only two or more

A weekend getaway may have seven or eight people who share and get to know each other

Or it may have twenty-seven or twenty-eight

There is no formula

Humans are not created by formula

You know the people at every gathering

Who they really are and their needs

Bring together the perfect number

Give us hearts to focus on your purposes

In a room of a hundred people or two

You know exactly who we need to meet

Go forth and work in the circumstances of life to bring about your perfect purposes

Let us be the blessing and coincidence to someone

Let us receive your introduction to whomever you want us to meet

Let us be at peace with whatever the outcome of an event

You along can make all thing work together for good

We leave this in your hands

We live in your rest and in your peace

We submit our purposes to your plans

We surrender our agenda and timing to yours

…recognizing these may often be one and the same

…as we increase in faith and maturity

Let us hear your voice at all times

…when it’s still a whisper

…before the need to shout
