Prayers for the Parched: Point of Confidence

David said, "Who Are You to Defy the Army of the Living God?"

David said, “Who Are You to Defy the Army of the Living God?”

As for me, I look to the Lord for his help.  I wait confidently for God to save me.  Micah 7:7

Father,

I praise you for bringing me to a point of confidence

This is where you want me

Teach me to meet every temptation throughout the day with a shout of faith

You have already conquered sin

You share your victory with me

Herein lies my confidence

I can say, “As for me, I look to the to the Lord for his help

I confidently wait for God to save me.”

Hannah Whithall Smith points out in her book God of All Comfort that David shouted to Goliath a statement of faith that  his armor was the Lord of Hosts versus a spear and shield and sword.  The battle is the Lord’s even as we walk onto the battlefield.  It’s not  that the battle is the Lords’ and we do nothing.  The battle is the Lord’s and we walk onto the battlefield with our seemingly inadequate slingshot.  We take position calling on the Lord.
